In 2021, I added another retirement hobby:  volunteering to provide interesting and fun sing-alongs at memory care and assisted living residences. Inspired by my own dad's long time commitment to volunteer his time to lead sing-alongs in his home communities, I've begun doing similarly in the greater Portland/SW Washington area. I play a wide variety of "crowd favorite" songs from the 1800's through the folk songs of the 1960's - along with some current songs - giving a brief story about each song - and encourage participation.  I get great joy from interacting with the residents with my own unique style of music therapy.

Often accompanied by my better half - a retired kindergarten teacher - and using a foot-operated percussion tool known as a "stomp box" and sometimes a tuba, we bring a unique energy and sound to all the sing-alongs (sample youtube videos linked below)

I got started at The Springs at Lake Oswego and we now have done many programs there and at The Springs at Carman Oaks, The Mirabella, The Cottages, Miramont Pointe, Holladay Park Plaza, Avamere Crestview of Portland, Laurel Parc at Bethany Village, and McMinnville Memory Care - with more places scheduled.

I'd welcome an opportunity to expand to other residences. I am happy to provide references and we are fully vaccinated.  We also fully support masking and are happy to do so when arriving and departing.
